Cutting Carbs

Now first thing I want to get out of the way is that there is no single answer for everyone, NO "magic pill" or "crash diet" cure all! Odds are you are going to try a few different methods before landing on that right one! The difference between success and failure is are you willing to keep going after the first failure. Today Americans want everything with little or no effort, always looking for that "one pill" or "fad/crash diet!"

One word of advice; Nothing worth having comes easy!

One easy step in the right direction would be to cut your intake of carbohydrates (carbs) and sugars. What are carbs you might ask. Well here is what wisegeek.com says, "Carbohydrates, or saccharides, are sugars and starches, which provide energy for humans and animals, and cellulose which make up many plant structures." Sugars and starches are used to give us energy, yes, BUT what happens if we don't use that energy? Well, our body stores that energy for later use in the form of fat! Will you use that energy (fat) tomorrow? You might, but odds are you will be eating more carbs. So your body won't take the stored energy (fat) to use because it already has more carbs being thrown its way.

So cutting carbs and sugars, as you can see, is an awesome place to start shedding a few unwanted pounds or the road to overall health. Now I am not saying to cut all carbs! What I am saying is instead of snacking on empty carbs such as; chips, potatoes, crackers, cookies, breads, etc.(Empty carbs have no/very little nutrition value!) snack on carrots (yes they are carbs to BUT they are not just empty carbs like chips. They have a nutritional value to them.) or maybe just drink some water instead of a snack. It won't be as satisfying as eating something solid but being a little hungry never hurt anyone and who knows maybe your body will use some of that stored energy (fat).

I have cut my daily intake of carbs and kept it down and I feel great! IN FACT when I eat empty carbs now (breads, crackers, pizza, etc.) I don't feel so great, they make me feel run down and tired when I eat too much of them. I have been dropping body fat from cutting my carbs and working out. I will eat a little more carbs than usual on my harder work out days (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) but on my light days (Tuesday, Thursday) I try get all my carbs for the day from fruits and veggies (just depends whats in the fridge!). Give it a try, just remember fight your cravings for empty carbs with your goal in sight. Cravings get easier to overcome with time. What do you have to lose but a few pounds!
